Content

- Principles of the finite element method
- Forming finite element model
- Beam, truss and frame elements
- Degrees of freedom
- Stiffness matrix and load vectors
- Nodal forces
- Equilibrium equations of nodal forces
- Internal forces of elements
- Effect of support movement
- Temperature effects

Materials

Lecturer’s own material.

Teaching methods

Lectures, calculation exercises and homework.

- of which autonomous studies: 47 h

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to form a balance equation group between nodal forces in the case of simple bar structures.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is a able to apply the finite element model of bar structures to solve the stress and displacement states of different bar, lattice and frame structures.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is a able to apply very well the finite element model of bar structures to solve the stress and displacement states of different bar, lattice and frame structures.
