Objective

Students will
- learn to analyse the roles of arts and media in society and to analyse these roles from the perspectives of the artistic world, audience and arts criticism
- become familiar with essential cultural political and administrative structures
- learn principal artistic trends of traditional narrative cinema, which form the foundation for contemporary cinema
- become familiar with various genres in cinema
- learn to interpret visual images as cultural products

- The role of arts in society
- Finnish cultural policy and structure of the cultural administration
- Historical development of cinema
- Interpretation of audiovisual products
- various tasks in culture- and mediaindustry

Grade 1 Students have passable knowledge of structures in the cultural and media field. (See assessment methods to see how the assessment is structured)

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Grade 3 Students have good knowledge of structures in the cultural and media field and they are aware of the importance of these structures for the production process

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Grade 5 Students have excellent knowledge of structures in the cultural and media field and they know how make use of these structures during the production process
