Objective
Upon completion of the course, students understand the issues associated with intellectual property rights. The student is able to
- define the basic concepts intellectual property rights
- understands what can be protected with different types of rights and how to obtain them
- knows about different existing patent systems
- knows about different free patent databases and knows how to search publications stored in the databases
- knows the basic criteria for the grant of a patent
