Competences in Working life, Management and Quality Assurance in Nursing (4cr)

Objective

ETHICAL COMPETENCE, WORKING COMMUNITY COMPETENCE, DECISION-MAKING COMPETENCE

Students are able to manage themselves in a responsible way as members of the working community and different networks. Students are able to recognize phenomena pertaining to management and leadership.

WORKING COMMUNITY COMPETENCE AND INNOVATION COMPETENCE

Students know the laws and norms pertaining to working life and are able to apply them in their work as employees and team managers. Students know the basics of quality work and are able to apply the methods of quality management when developing their own work and the work community from the viewpoints of cost-effectiveness, processes, persons and clientship.

Content

Labour legislation and norms. Collective labour agreement. Main concepts of leadership and management. Evaluation of effectiveness in the organisation. Concepts of quality management/assurance in health care and social work. Patient security plan and quality management plan.

Teaching methods

SISÄLTÖ:
Työlainsäädäntö ja normit. Virka- ja työehtosopimus. Johtamisen keskeiset käsitteet. Organisaation tuloksellisuuden arviointi. Sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollon laadunhallinnan käsitteet. Potilasturvallisuussuunnitelma ja laatusuunnitelma.
Opetusmuoto / Opetusmenetelmät
Opintojakson ensimmäisillä tunneilla läsnäolovelvollisuus, koska silloin selostetaan opintokokonaisuuden suorittaminen.
Luento-opetus ja opiskelijakeskeiset oppimismenetelmät.

-search up-to-date research knowledge on management and are able to discuss management in nursing organizations comprehensively
- observe worklife legislation and norms contructively and critically
- evaluate and critically apply quality assurance methods to develop their work and working community
- can argue for and make conclusions concerning needs for quality assurance and patient safety in nursing organizations

are able to manage themselves as members of the working community and different networks
-are able to discuss management comprehensively and in the context of nursing organizations
- utilise worklife legislation and norms in nursing organizations
- can select suitable quality assurance methods to develop their work and working community
-are able to analyse needs for quality assurance and patient safety

Students
-are aware of the importance of self-management as members of the working community and different networks
-are able to discuss management but from a narrow perspective and only to some extent in the context of nursing organizations
- to a limited degree, are able to utilise worklife legislation and norms in nursing organizations
- can select suitable quality assurance methods to develop their work and working community
- are able to list quality assurance and patient safety methods

Fail = 0
Students
-do not recognise the importance of self-management or management in nursing organizations
-are able to discuss management but without linking it to the context of nursing organizations or to the assignment
- are not familiar with worklife legislation and norms
- do not know quality assurance or patient safety methods in nursing organizations

No previous studies are required.

Opiskelija osaa laatutyön perusteet ja soveltaa laadunhallinnan menetelmiä oman työnsä ja työyhteisönsä kehittämiseen kustannusvaikuuttavuuden, prosessien, henkilöiden ja asiakkuuden näkökulmasta.
