Objective

Students familiarise themselves with management and the role of a manager/first-line manager in elderly service organizations. Students know how to apply theoretical knowledge in management of elderly care. They analyse their development options and preparedness to work in management and development of quality with profit responsibility.

Content

Practical traiing in service provision systems, examining management, finances, evaluation, development and quality management. Students carry out a quality development project together with the personnel of their placement and study financial management of the workplace.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Pass:
Students have good command over important areas of elderly care management, which they reflect on in their assignments. In their practical training placement, students actively demonstrate what theoretical knowledge they have. They are able to conduct critical discussions. They identify and bring up development challenges in their own action but also in the organization. Students are clear and consequent in their actions. They evaluate their growth into the profession.

Fail:
Students have a narrow understanding of management in elderly care. They are able to demonstrate what theoretical knowledge they have, but do not completely succeed in applying it into practice. Their interaction with personnel and clients is reserved. They demonstrate little reflection and need a great deal of supervision.

Qualifications

Basic studies, major part of professional studies. Knowledge foundation for gerontological work, Health and social service systems and case management, Anticipatory and resource-oriented gerontological work.
