Content scheduling

The course is classroom teaching. Participation in class room activities is compulsory.

Objective

On completion of the course, the students are able to transfer the trained speaking skills to a variety of situations in working life, and are capable of structuring and giving formal and informal presentations about any chosen topic.

Content

This intensive course covers a range of professional situations in which spoken English is essential, with the aim of developing accuracy, confidence and spontaneity when speaking English in a professional environment. The students learn language structures commonly used in discussions, negotiations, telephoning, networking and socializing with particular focus on the appropriate use of English in oral presentations.

Grades are awarded for oral participation throughout the course and a 10-minute individual presentation during the final class

Spoken exercises via role plays, group discussions and short group presentations

Exam schedules

At the end of the course, a 10-minute spoken presentation.

The course language is English (internationalisation at home); the lecturer comes from a partner university in Aschaffenburg, Germany.

54 h; incl. preparation work for contact lessons, attendance in the classroom work and preparation for the final exam
