Objective
Students will:
- with help of current knowledge, study the health of the population in Finland and list risk factors to people's health
- objectively examine their own health in light of existing exercise and nutritional guidelines
- keep an eating diary and interpret the results using nutritional guidelines
-learn to define the daily need of energy for themselves and for a client with special needs
-select a a special needs group and study the special features in this client group's nutrition and exercise
-based on theoretical knowledge, plan a balanced, health-promoting exercise and nutrition programme for the target group they have selected
Content
-The health of the population in Finland and risk factors
-Student's own health in the framework of exercise and nutritional guidelines
-Interpretation of an eating diary based on guidelines
-Defining the need for energy and energy consumption
-Special groups (diabetics, pregnant women etc.)
-Planning a balanced, health-promoting exercise and nutritional programme for a target group

Teaching methods
The course is completed independently as online studies:
The course is conducted online in the Moodle learning environment. The course is completed independently at the student's own pace during its implementation period. The course does not include joint meetings, pair work, or group work.
During the course, the student familiarizes themselves with the theoretical materials and completes the online assignments according to the given instructions. The course requires independent work and time management skills.
Student workload
The workload of the study is designed so that one credit corresponds to an average of 27 hours of student work to achieve the learning objectives. The actual time required varies individually, e.g., due to prior knowledge.

Pass:
The student completes the partial tasks of the course according to the given instructions. The answers to the tasks are based on theoretical knowledge and follow the requirements set for them. The student returns the written assignments at the agreed time.
Fail:
The student does not complete the course assignments in accordance time and with the given instructions. The answers to the tasks are not based on theoretical knowledge, and do not comply with the requirements set for them. The student does not return his written assignments within the agreed time.
