Content scheduling
The course begins on Monday 5.5.2025. There will be a voluntary common orientation which is arranged in Teams.
The student conduct independently online assignments and tasks according to the given instructions. The new section will be opened automatically when the student has accomplished the previous section. The student is able to attend the exam when all assignments and exercises have been done.
Objective
The student can communicate in everyday situations and work tasks in written and spoken Swedish. They can acquire and use information related to their field of study and can use basic terminology of the field. They can develop their language skills in line with the requirements of working life.
After completing the course, students will be able to tell about themselves, their education and work experience, for example in job search situations.
They will be able to run errands via telephone and e-mail, to tell about their work and to cope with customer service situations.
The student can act, give advice and guidance in work-related situations and interact with others.
Content
Personal and educational background, job search.
Describing the working environment, working conditions and tasks, meetings, guiding and verbal customer service situations and vocabulary in the field.
Småprat, expressing and explaining opinions, telephone and e-mail communication.
Location and time
On Monday 5.5.2025 will be arranged a common orientation in Teams. The link will be sent later on by email.
FULLY INDEPENDENT ONLINE STUDY
The studies allow for completion according to your own schedule during the summer 2025 or according to the recommed timetable. Exams are scheduled.
SCHEDULED ONLINE STUDY
The schedules for the scheduled online teaching can be found in the timetable at https://lukkarikone.seamk.fi/. Timetables are published for the next six weeks. The first six weeks of autumn are published by Midsummer and the first six weeks of spring by Christmas. Timetables may be subject to changes.
Materials
Materials are provided in Moodle. Studying requires headphones and a webcam.
Teaching methods
FULLY INDEPENDENT ONLINE STUDY:
The study is conducted online in the Moodle learning environment. Written exam is in virtual Exam room and spoken Exam is in Teams. The study is carried out independently at your own pace during the implementation period. The study does not include joint meetings or pair or group work.
The student familiarizes themselves with the theoretical material, completes online assignments and wordtests according to the given instructions. The study requires independent work and scheduling.
Exams are scheduled.
Exam schedules
The written exam will be in the EXAM-room.

1. 28.7.-10.8.2025
2. 25.8.-7.9.2025 (retake 1)
3. 29.9.-12-10.2025 (retake 2)
The oral exams will be arranged in Teams in August.
A failed exam (both oral and written) can be retaken twice.
Student workload
The workload of the study is designed so that one credit corresponds to an average of 27 hours of student work to achieve the learning objectives. The actual time required varies individually, e.g., due to prior knowledge.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Students use simple structures and limited vocabulary in their communication, but mistakes hinder comprehension. They can understand slow, clear speech and simple professional texts. They cope competently with predictable work situations. Pronunciation is influenced by other languages. European Framework of Reference for Languages level B1.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student communicates using basic structures with near-flawless accuracy and understands the basic vocabulary of the profession. The student can cope reasonably well with anticipated work situations. Pronounces intelligibly. European Framework of Reference for Languages level B1/B2.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student uses a wide range of structures and a broad professional vocabulary to communicate almost flawlessly. They are active and cope independently and fluently in written and oral situations in working life. Pronunciation is close to the target language. Level B2 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the main structures and vocabulary of the Swedish language
- Previous Swedish language studies at secondary level are required.
