Objective
After the course, the student can tell the meaning of outreaching services in a library work. S/he can separate different patron groups in outreaching work. The student can use different working methods in planning and implementing library services to different patron groups. The student can analyze special characteristics of mobile library, institutional libraries and home delivery services. The student knows the guidelines of accessible library services and s/he can tell how to improve the accessibility of library space and services. The student identifies the needs of clients of different cultural backgrounds.

Location and time
The schedules for the scheduled online teaching can be found in the timetable at https://lukkarikone.seamk.fi/. Timetables are published for the next six weeks. The first six weeks of autumn are published by Midsummer and the first six weeks of spring by Christmas. Timetables may be subject to changes.
Information about the study will be sent by email during week 35. The first online meeting of the study is on wednesday 3.9. at 18-20.
Materials
The study materials are in Moodle.
Studying requires headphones and a webcam.
Teaching methods
The study is conducted online in the Moodle learning environment. It requires participation in scheduled online teaching. The study may include joint online pair or group work and also independent work online. The recordings of the teaching sessions are available for later viewing in Moodle.
Student workload
lectures and groupworks online 25 h, independent study 115 h.
The workload of the study is designed so that one credit corresponds to an average of 27 hours of student work to achieve the learning objectives. The actual time required varies individually, e.g., due to prior knowledge.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student has completed all the course tasks but hasn't always followed the timetables. S/he can tell the most important tasks and customer groups of the outreaching library services in a public library. S/he can tell the most important partners in co-operation and what kind of co-operation is done. The student knows the guidelines of accessible library services and s/he can tell some examples how to improve the accessibility of library space and services.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student has completed all the course tasks according to the timetables and instructions. The student can analyse the tasks of outreaching library services in a public library. The student can identify the important organizations of co-operation and s/he can tell what kind of co-operation is done. The student can tell some new possibilities of co-operation. The student knows the guidelines of accessible library services and s/he can tell many examples how to improve the accessibility of library space and services.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student has completed all the course tasks according to the timetables and instructions. The student can tell a diversified analysis of the tasks and the future of outreaching library services in a public library and also as a part of society. The student can identify the important organizations of co-operation and s/he can tell what kind of co-operation is done. S/he can tell some new possibilities of co-operation. The student knows and can explain the meaning of the guidelines of accessible library services and s/he can tell a lot of examples how to improve the accessibility of library space and services.
