Objective
Students will be competent in of the entire realm of data communications and of various data communications netowrks and their features, concepts and various relationships. They will understand the principles behind IP addresses and subnetworking, TCP/IP protocols and how they work. Students will learn the basics of computer networks and threats from suojatutumisilta.

Students will become familiar with data communications protocols and how they work. They will understand the principles of data transfer and data communications systems.

Location and time
The schedules can be found in the timetable at https://lukkarikone.seamk.fi/. Timetables are published for the next six weeks. The first six weeks of autumn are published by Midsummer and the first six weeks of spring by Christmas. Timetables may be subject to changes.

Teacher delivers materials and links in Moodle.
Teaching methods
The study involves contact teaching and requires attendance at the SEAMK campus.
The course is conducted in the Moodle learning environment. The course requires independent work and scheduling.

Lectures and guided exercises 36 h, independent study 44 h.
