Objective
The student is able to design and implement multi-axis motion control using frequency converters and induction motors, as well as servo drives and servo motors. The student can implement resource-efficient automation systems and communication solutions required for motion control by utilizing industrial fieldbus technologies.
Content
- Control of a material-handling station implemented with a programmable logic controller (PLC), a servo drive, and a servo motor.
- Control implemented with a programmable logic controller (PLC), a frequency converter, and an induction motor.
- PC-based multi-axis motion control.
- Commonly used signals and communication solutions in motion controller communication.
Materials
Lecture handouts, lecture demonstrations, assignments, product and programming manuals of various manufacturers
Teaching methods
Lectures, demonstrations, assignments and group work.
Student workload
Total work load of the course: 108 h
- of which scheduled studies: 40 h
- of which autonomous studies: 68 h
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student knows the basic concepts of single-axis motion control.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student masters well principles of multi-axis motion control and fieldbus communication and can develope motion control applications.
