Objective

Students will work on multi-technical, international student teams to fulfil product and production development commissions for various companies utilising Seinäjoki UAS's laboratories. Students will develop their technical expertise and skills in project work and enhance their relationships with companies and other actors.
The student is able to apply critical thinking in project planning and take into account sustainability goals and ecosocial education, utilize futures thinking and innovations to promote sustainable development, as well as apply critical thinking in project planning and consider sustainability objectives.

Content

Students carry out tasks given by their employer. They solve these in an engineering way at group work. Project groups are given specific learning goals for doing the tasks. The companies commissions are clearly defined development tasks that supprt learning. The tasks may vary from short-term surveys to more extensive tasks. Practical projects applying sustainable solutions and futures thinking.

A commission may involve a survey pertaining to quality, the manufacturing of prototypes, testing and comparing work methods, and conventional practical and design work. A commission may also involve a company's completed development project, the functioning, need for refining or cost efficiency of which needs to be examined.

The commisions of companies contain business secrets and therefore they are always confidential.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Level 1-2: The student can act in the project group and master the principles of the project work. He works actively.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Level 3-4: The student can act as the designer in the group and master the principles of the project work and it is active in the group. The student documents results and the progress of the project.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Level 5: The student can solve planning tasks according to the objective and master the principles of the project work and it is active in the group. The student produces good documentation from the project.

No previous studies are required.
