GYNECOLOGICAL NURSING & FAMILY PLANNING: Reproductive health at different stages of woman’s lifespan, the most common examinations and procedures performed at the outpatient clinic, breast self-examination, family planning, STD’s, early pregnancy disorders, inducted abortion, infertility, sexual violence, tumors, endometriosis, the most common gynecological procedures, ageing woman
MATERNITY HEALTH: Normal pregnancy, pregnancy at risk, birth / emergency birth, postpartum period, newborn, breastfeeding.

Objective

The student
- knows the different dimensions of sexuality and is aware of the importance of sexuality for human well-being.
- is able to discuss sexuality in different client and counselling situations in nursing.
- knows the legislation and ethical principles of maternity and gynaecological nursing.
- is familiar with the principles and specific features of gynaecological nursing and knows the most common sexual health examination and treatment procedures.
- has knowledge of the normal course and monitoring of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium and understands the health-promoting role of breastfeeding.
- can use evidence-based knowledge in the care of gynaecological patients and family expecting baby.

The student
- demonstrates basic knowledge of gynaecological nursing, family planning and maternity care, but is unable to justify his/her actions.
- demonstrates sufficient knowledge of gynaecological nursing, family planning and maternity care to be able to act in professional situations.
- can demonstrate patient safety in the care of gynaecological nursing and maternity nursing patients/clients.

The student
- can seek for information on gynaecological nursing, family planning and maternity care and justify the use of sources of information.
- uses the nursing knowledge base consistently in gynaecological nursing, family planning and maternity nursing.
- can justify actions based on evidence-based knowledge.
- can apply professional knowledge in a variety of client-centred care situations.
- can act in a client-oriented, responsible, ethical and patient-safe manner in client encounters in gynaecology, family planning and maternity care.

The student

Further information

Skills labs and simulations are compulsory. The student must do those with another group, if she/ he misses the classes. Attendance on theory lecture is compulsory.
