Objective
Students study current literature and research to learn how to promote exercise and sports as a hobby for children and young people. Students know about the importance of exercise and sports for the growth and development of children and young people. Students know the basics of improving the various areas of physical fitness in children and young people, and become aware of their role in promoting physical activity. Students are able to describe how physical activity started in young age is important from society's perspective.
Content
- Children's exercise behaviour in Finland and factors that promote and hinder exercise
-The latest guidelines on health-enhancing exercise for children and young people, use of the guidelines
-Developing children's and young people's physical preparedness and qualities
- Health-promoting effects of exercise as a support to child and youth development
-Guidance and coaching in motivating clients/promoting exercise behaviour and hobbies

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Students recognize some of the main factors that affect children's and young people's exercise behaviour and can partly use research knowledge and the latest guidelines on health-enhancing exercise to plan and guide exercise/sports for children and young people. Students are to some extent able to take into consideration children's and young people's physical properties and to a limited extent, able to name health effects of exercise. Students are partly able to use various counselling or guidance methods to motivate children/young people to take up exercise and sports as a hobby.

Students know how to comprehensively use various counselling or guidance methods to motivate children/young people to take up exercise and sports as a hobby.
