Objective
Competence in the construction process
The student knows the principles of massive timber production processes. The student knows the repair methods of a log building.
Competence in structural engineering
The student understands the special characteristics of massive timber as construction material. The student understands the leading principles of planning and dimensioning of log and CLT structures.

- Log and CLT as construction material
- Common solid timber production and working methods
- Other structures associated with log structures
- Basic principles of log building design, structural functions and erection
- Basics of repair methods of log buildings
- Basics of dimensioning of solid timber structures

On-line course, 2 hours lecture at the beginning.

The student is able to name the key concepts of log and CLT construction and explain their meaning.

In addition to the abilities above, the student is able to apply the basic concepts of log and CLT construction in different tasks and to give reasons for their solutions.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
In addition to the abilities above, the student has a comprehensive idea of log and CLT construction. They are able to apply their knowledge in specific problems of solid timber construction and to give reasons for their solutions in a logical manner.
