Objective

The student
- is able to understand his / her professional responsibility for securing and promoting the safety of patients receiving medication and fluid care.
- is able to plan, implement and evaluate safe medication and fluid care for various diseases.
- based on a doctor's instructions, the student is able to plan, implement and evaluate intravenous medication and fluid care and blood transfusions for patients of all ages.
- is able to observe side and combined effects of medicines and to evaluate the effectiveness of medication care.
- is able to do medication calculations correctly and administer the correct dose to the patient.

Content

Monitoring fluid balance
Intravenous iv medication and fluid therapy
Blood transfusion
Peripheral vein IV-cannulation
Safe use of alternative medication administration routes (CVK, portal vein, IO, PICC/ midline)
Implementation of client- and patient-safe intravenous iv- medication dose and infusion
Monitoring the effects of medication

The student
- knows how to seek information about safe medication and fluid care from various sources and use the knowledge to implement medication and fluid care.
- identifies key evidence-based information about medication and fluid therapy that is safe for clients and patients.
- has achieved sufficient basic knowledge to be able to act safely in medication and fluid therapy situations.
- knows how to plan and implement the most common tasks related to medication and fluid therapy in a customer-oriented manner.

The student
- actively searches information about safe medication and fluid care and explains why he/she uses various sources.
- understands key evidence-based information about client-/ patient safe medication and fluid therapy.
- knows how to apply the basic knowledge of safe medication and fluid therapy to work in medication and fluid therapy.
- knows how to plan, implement and evaluate the most common tasks related to medication and fluid therapy in a client-/ patient oriented manner.
- develops oneself professionally in safe medication and fluid therapy.

- applies concepts and knowledge of safe medication and fluid care competently.
- organizes and applies key evidence-based information in medication and fluid care that is safe for clients and patients.
- knows how to apply knowledge of safe medication and fluid therapy to work in medication and fluid care.
- knows how to plan, implement, evaluate and analyze the most common tasks related to medication and fluid care in a client-oriented manner.
- knows how to act correctly, responsibly, evaluating own actions in various tasks required for safe medication and fluid care.

Fail = 0
The student
- is not adequately familiar with the concepts of safe medication and fluid care, or unable to use them.
- applies his / her knowledge of safe medication and fluid therapy insufficiently and incorrectly.
- does not sufficiently take into account client / patient safety of safe medication and fluid therapy.
- is not prepared to develop himself/herself in safe medication and fluid care.

Qualifications

Drug Care and Calculations module must be completed.
