Objective

Students will acquire the skills needed to work as a builder in construction projects on farms. They will be familiar withthe regulations and guidelines concerning construction and the impact zoning has on construction. Students will know how to apply for permits and the main principles of designing farm buildings. They will be familiar with the costs involved in renovating farm buildings and know how to estimate costs and schedules based on drafts.

· Contracting parties in a construction project, phases in a construction project
· Impact of zoning on construction
· Making offers, types of contracting and contracting agreement
· Designing farm buildings
· Regulations and guidelines associated with farm construction
- Filling out applications for financing, making cost estimations, calculating labour input, and making a general schedule

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student knows the tasks belong to the developer and knows how to apply for permits which are necessary for construction, as well as knowing the directions of farm buildings. Student knows the occupational safety regulations for farm construction in general stage.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Student is able to implement a major farm construction project in different stages. He/she knows the cost structure of different construction sites and knows how to compete with various sites in the field. Student knows the occupational safety regulations for farm construction.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student knows how to work well as a developer of different farm construction and is able to apply for the permits necessary to implement the project and knows the cost structure of farm construction both in terms of new and repair construction and knows how to properly compete the various items of work. Student manages the construction process as a whole and knows workplace safety regulations well.
