Objective

The student is able to guide and support clients in matters related to partnership and family planning. The student can plan, implement and evaluate the health, well-being and resources monitoring and strengthening of the family waiting for the child in cooperation with the family. The student is able to carry out nursing work in a maternity and family planning council. The student is able to evaluate the health of the expectant mother and the fetus and to identify the risk factors related to pregnancy and childbirth and to guide the treatment if necessary. He/she knows the main features of childbirth care and knows how to plan and carry out family training. The student is able to plan, implement and evaluate the need for support of the newborn child and his / her family and to strengthen their involvement.

Content

Maternity care service system. Family planning, sexual and reproductive health. Family coaching, support for parenthood, motherhood, paternity and relationship. Medical examinations, screening examinations, health counseling and guidance for the mother and the family expecting the child and for the child. Pregnancy risk factors and their identification and management guidance, special support and follow-up. The course of childbirth, sudden birth and ex-post audit. Early interaction and support. Breastfeeding counseling.

- is able to guide individual clients and their families in health care

- works safely and in accordance with the principles of professional ethics of the public health nurse
- works as a health care expert in multidisciplinary groups
- is able to develop himself/herself in occupational health care

The student
- demonstrates the management of the knowledge base of different areas of health care and applies information widely in health care
- is capable of independent decision-making in different health care situations and environments
- operates in a customer-oriented, responsible and safe manner in health care
- is able to listen, support and guide individual clients and their families in health care
- is able to promote group health
- works safely as a nurse and in accordance with the principles of professional ethics
- evaluates and critically use evidence-based information for health care development
- works as a health care expert in multidisciplinary groups and projects
- is able to develop himself/herself and healthcare activities

The student
- demonstrates the wide-ranging management of the knowledge base of the various areas of health care and expertly applies it in health care
- is capable of independent decision-making in different health care situations and environments
- works from the needs of the client and his/her family in health care
- is able to listen, support and guide the client and his family in health care
- demonstrates the management of individual, group and community health promotion methods
- assumes responsibility for the overall care and service process of the client in health care
- independently searches for evidence-based information, uses it and assesses it critically in health care and its development
- is able to develop himself/herself and health-care activities in accordance with the principles of professional ethics and safety
- develop activities as a health care expert in multidisciplinary groups and projects

The student
- demonstrates inadequate management of basic information on the various aspects of health care and their application in nursing care
- insufficiently justifies his/her activities in health care
- is not able to operate in a customer-oriented and customer-friendly manner in health care
- has inadequate self-decision skills in health care
- does not take adequate account of ethical principles in the field of health care
- has insufficient capacity to participate in health care development work
