Objective
The student
-applies his/her knowledge of changes related to ageing to nursing care.
-demonstrates knowledge of interventions and methods of assessment and maintenance of health, functional capacity and resources of the aged.
-identifies, assesses and manages elderly client pain.
-applies in practice their knowledge of memory disorders, nursing care of and services for patients with memory disorders.
-documents the nursing care of client/patient according to the nursing care process.
- assesses the client’s/patient’s need for interventions (care) in accordance with the Finnish Care Classification (FinCC), plans and implements interventions using the Finnish Classification of Nursing Interventions (FiCNI), evaluates nursing outcomes using the Finnish Classification of Nursing Outcomes (FiCNO), as well as produces a summary of the nursing care.

The student
- knows how to seek knowledge of gerontological nursing, but has difficulty in applying it into practice.
- demonstrates familiarity with the knowledge base and core content of gerontological nursing, but is unable to give reasons for their actions.
- demonstrates adequate knowledge of gerontological nursing, so that he/she knows how to act in professional situations.
-observes patient safety when nursing gerontological patients/clients.

- consistently uses a nursing scientific knowledge base in gerontological nursing.
