Objective
Under supervision, the student will be competent in identifying needs of patients and their families and in planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting nursing care. The student will know the structure of the service provision system, the collaborating authorities and typical service pathways for various client groups in acute and critical situations. The student will learn to give oral reports under supervision. The student will also be competent in dealing with patients in various life situations. The student will become familiar with the principles of patient-oriented, resource-based and multi-professional nursing of patients and their families. The student will utilize information and nursing technology and equipment. The student will apply ethical guidelines and principles to nursing in acute and critical situations.
Content
Care and service provision system for acutely and critically ill patients, main concepts and different care situations. Acute and critically ill patient; Assessment of the patient's status, planning and implementation of the nursing care. Triage in emergency care and disasters. Securing patient´s vital functions in acute and critical problems. Nursing intensive care patients on a ventilator. Nursing cardiac patients in CCU. Written and oral information and documentation in nursing acutely and critically ill patients.
