Objective

Competence in the construction process
The student knows different composite structures and where they are typically used. The student also understands the function of composite structures.

Competence in structural engineering
The student will be competent in designing reinforced concrete composite structures according to the Eurocodes.

Content

- Designing bent reinforced concrete composite structures (beams and plates) in ultimate and serviceability limit states according to the Eurocodes
- Designing composite columns according to the Eurocodes

Materials

Eurocodes EN 1994, EN 1992 and EN 1993. Liittorakenteiden suunnittelu ja mitoitus, Eurocode 4 –oppikirja by58. Lecturer's own material.

Teaching methods

Lectures and calculation exercises.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to use the Eurocode of composite structures in the design of a simple bent structure.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to use the Eurocode of composite structures in the design of different bar structures, such as a bar and a pillar .

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to use the Eurocode of composite structures very well in the design of different bar structures, such as a bar and a pillar .
