Objective
Competence in structural engineering
Students will learn about the properties, manufacturing methods, product groups, suitability for different applications, and installation and working method requirements of the materials most commonly used in building construction. Students understand the health and environmental impacts of materials. Students are familiar with the sustainability and recyclability of materials.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Students learn about the properties, manufacturing methods, and suitability for different applications of common building materials used in house construction. Students gain an understanding of the health and environmental impacts of building materials.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Students are able to identify the key properties of building materials that affect their use in construction. Students are familiar with the correct storage and installation conditions for common building materials. Students are able to take into account the effect of moisture on materials.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
In addition to the above, students have a good command of the subject matter and are able to apply what they have learned. They are also able to analyze the connections between the things they have learned.
