Objective

Occupational and environmental safety in construction
Students appreciate the existing body of buildings and the built environment.

Competence in repair construction
Students are able to determine why repair is needed and to list typical deficiencies in and damages of buildings from different eras. Students are competent in preparing a condition assessment report on a repair construction target chosen by themselves. They also know how to read old drawings and repair drawings.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student has the basic knowledge of repair construction, yet possibly with some minor imperfections. The student knows the damage of the key structural components and the repair methods as well as the different methods of construction of different epochs.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student has the basic knowledge of repair construction and knows the key working methods as well as the different methods of construction and structures of different epochs. The student masters the most common stress factors, types of damage, and the repair methods .The student knows the changing effects of conditions on structures and the risks caused by them. The student is able to make commonly-used analyses and draw conclusions based on basic information.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the abilities above, the student has a good command of what they have learned and is able to apply it. They can also analyze connections between things they have learned. The student is able to make diversified analyses and draw conclusions based on what they have learned.
