Objective

The student improves the skills to design steel structures and can design challenging steel structures. The objective is to achieve the qualification required by authorities in structural design of steel structures.

Content

Design of steel structures in accordance with the Euro codes. Significance of buckling on the strength of the cross section. Cross section classes (especially class 4). Stability of steel structures: dimensioning for buckling and transverse buckling and joint effects. The overall stability of steel frame. Welded and screwed joints and joint applications. Dimensioning of fire protection for steel structures. Sheet metal structures.
