Objective

After the course the student:
- is able to explain the main factors of individual, community and society level that influence the functional capacity and experiencing life in old age
- is able to recognize how elderly people’s functional capacity and experiencing life is connected to their physical, psychological and social environment
- is able to plan, implement and assess activities which aim at increasing the possibilities of active living and experiencing life as meaningful
- has increased her/his own skills of working in multicultural and multi-professional teams

Teaching methods

Learning (moodle) platform will be used to share course materials and support your learning throughout the entire course. This is a multidisciplinary course consisting of contact lessons (1cr), project work in teams (2 cr), independent and on-line work (1 cr) and a final seminar (1cr). You will cooperate with local elderly people during this course. The exchange students will study together with local students from the fields of social work, physiotherapy and nursing.

Welcome to this 5cr-course, which is taking place every week. You will cooperate with local elderly people during the entire course. The exchange students will study together with local students from the fields of social work, physiotherapy and nursing..

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to use Learning 2 –platform to search for the necessary information and is able to deliver there the required assignments mainly in due time.
The student is present for 90% of the planning and implementation, but is hardly able to bring forward personal ideas and take responsibility.
The student is able to have the required assignments done.
The student is able to deliver on time rather simple self-assessment of his/her learning, where he/she describes some learning experiences and uses some study module concepts correctly.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to search for the necessary information and deliver the required assignments before deadline.
The student actively uses Learning 2 – platform and is able to make good use of the materials available on Learning 2 for project work, lesson discussions and self-assessment.
The student is able to actively, positively and responsibly participate to the project’s planning and implementation.
The student is able to deliver on time his/her personal, rather broad self-assessment of his/her learning, where he/she describes and specifies learning experiences using study module concepts. The student is able to give examples of how theory principles appear in practical operational environments.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to search for the necessary information and deliver the required assignments on time.
The student actively uses Learning 2 – platform and is able to make good use of the materials available on Learning 2 for project work, lesson discussions and self-assessment. In addition, the student is able to add relevant material on Learning 2- platform.
The student is able to actively, positively, responsibly and constructively participate to the project’s planning and realization.
The student is able to bring many good ideas and aspects, and to take into consideration other participants’ ideas.
The student is motivated and able to solve possible problems.
The student is able to deliver on time his/her personal broad learning self-assessment, where he/she uses fluently, comprehensively and critically the concepts of the study module.

Assessment methods and criteria

1-5 scale. Active participation in project work and a presentation (50%), individual written learning diary (50) %, active participation in lessons is required.
