Objective

Students can name the characteristics of the media, they can analyse texts which are related to nutrition and can apply these characteristic elements in their own text. They can analyse both the structure and the textual elements. They can explain their choices in a convincing way and can give constructive feedback.
Students are familiar with the nutrition research and methods of it. They are able to follow the development of the nutrition field and apply the latest research knowledge and information to their work. Students are able to assess the reliability of nutrition information.

Participation to this course requires performing of the Ravitsemuspassi 1 level knowledge (ravitsemuspassi.fi). Save the certificate that has been received from the performing of the test. It will be connected to the network when the study module begins.
The IT-equipment required:
computer with broadband and ability to use on-line environments. Web-cam and headset.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student masters some of the principles how to analyse or to produce media texts which are related to their field, if he gets some help. He knows the significance of the target group and the media, if he gets some help. He can occasionally explain his choices and is able to give feedback. He can only in some case follow instructions and operate on schedule.
The student can name the methods of the nutrition research. The student can estimate the reliability of the information and can search for reliable nutrition information occasionally. The student can give a summary of nutrition researches and partly apply the newest nutrition kowledge in to his work.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student masters the principles how to analyse or to produce media texts which are related to their field. He knows the significance of the target group. He can explain his choices in a convincing way and is able to give constructive feedback. He can mainly follow the instructions and can operate on schedule.
The student can define and explain the methods of the nutrition research. The student can estimate the reliability of the information and knows the sources of the reliable nutrition information. The student can give a summary of nutrition researches and can partly apply the newest nutrition knowledge in to his work.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student masters the principles how to analyse or to produce media texts which are related to their field. He knows the significance of the target group and the right media. He can explain his choices in a convincing way and is able to give constructive feedback. He can follow the instructions and can operate exactly during the process on schedule.
The student can define and explain the methods of the nutrition research. The student can estimate the reliability of the information and use multiple sources of the reliable nutrition information. The student can give a summary of nutrition researches and use the newest nutrition knowledge justifiably.
