Information seeking 1
The student:
- is able to use SeAMK library and information services.
- knows information sources of nursing and health care.
- knows the different types of information.
- is able to analyze information need and to conceptualize search words.
- is able to use and read databases and references.
- is able to write information sources (text references and bibliography) and evaluate them according to The SeAMK Instructions for Written Work.
- knows how to follow new professional and research information of health care.
- knows the importance of information skills in studying and working life.

Information seeking 2
The student:
- knows the systematic information search process.
- is able to search information on main databases of health sciences.
- is able to evaluate information seeking process, results of information retrieval and the quality of information sources.
- is able to read academic publications.
- is able to use research information in clinical decision making.
- is able to use professional and research information ethically in the bachelor´s thesis and later in various working life situations.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Information seeking 1
Course assignments (pass/failed), an exam (1 – 5/failed) and an integrated written assignment (1 – 5/failed) are required. The average grade of the exam and the written assignment is no less than 1 (1) or 1,5 (2).
The grade of the exam is determined on the grounds of the score of multiple-choice questions.
In the written assignment, there are used mainly professional information sources and there are some lacks in their writing.

Information seeking 2.
Assignments (pass/failed) and the accepted thesis plan (1 – 5/failed) are done.
Information seeking of the thesis plan is assessed by complying assessment criteria of theses command of knowledge: Previous knowledge has been applied to some extent. The use of sources is scarce and unsystematic, and source criticism is missing.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Information seeking 1.
Assignments (pass/failed), the exam (1 – 5/failed) and the integrated written assignment (1 – 5/failed) are done. The average grade of the exam and the written assignment is no less than 2,5 (2) or 3,5 (4).
The grade of the exam is determined on the grounds of the score of multiple-choice questions.
In the written assignment, professional and academic information sources are used and references are written mainly correctly.

Information seeking 2.
Assignments (pass/failed) and the accepted thesis plan (1 – 5/failed) are done.
Information seeking of the thesis plan is assessed by complying assessment criteria of theses command of knowledge. Previous knowledge has been dealt with sufficiently. The number of national and international sources is quite large, and they cover the major part of the topic area, but source criticism is occasional.

The grade of the exam is determined on the grounds of the score of multiple-choice questions.
In the written exercise, quality and diverse professional and academic information sources are used fluently and correctly.

Information seeking 2.
Assignments (pass/failed) and the accepted thesis plan (1 – 5/failed) are done.
Information seeking of the thesis plan is assessed by complying assessment criteria of theses command of knowledge: Previous knowledge has been dealt with comprehensively. The number of sources is large, and they are used in a critical way (scientificity, internationality, recency).
