Objective

Students will be familiar with the farm management and production economics. They will be competent in obtaining new information from academic publications, for example, and utilizing that information to solve problems in plant production and animal husbandry. Students will understand the hypotheses behind the research and consider them when utilizing the results of the research.

Teaching methods

Lessons, writing esseys, presentations, distance learning

Employer connections

During the course students visit at different farms. Students interview farm entrepreneurs how they manage their farms and how they seek to improve the profitability of their farms. Farm entrepreneurs tell about their solutions and ways of action.

About 75 hours of theory teaching as class working and about 190 hours of independent learning.

Opetusresurssien mahdollistamissa rajoissa otetaan opiskelijoita opintojaksolle.
Tarvittaessa valinta opintojaksoille tehdään opintomenestyksen mukaisessa järjestyksessä.
Opintomenestys määritetään seuraavien opintojaksojen keskiarvon perusteella:
- Maatalouden yritystalouden perusteet
- Maatilayrityksen verotus
- Maatalouspolitiikka

Lisäksi edellytetään, että agrologi (AMK) kaikille yhteisissä ammattiopinnoissa on edetty opetussuunnitelman mukaisesti.
