Objective

LEARNING COMPETENCE, INNOVATION COMPETENCE

Students will learn to search and process evidence-based knowledge of health promotion for people of all ages, taking into account their families/next of kin and living environments.

ETHICAL COMPETENCE, CUSTOMERSHIP IN NURSING COMPETENCE

Students will learn to look at how their own values are constructed and to identify conceptions of human nature. They will be aware of the value foundation in their professional field and understand the meaning of profession-specific ethical principles in the area of health promotion.

HEALTH PROMOTION COMPETENCE, INTERNATIONALIZATION COMPETENCE

Students will learn to describe the concept health in nursing as one concept which guides their action. Students will recognize factors which contribute to the health of individuals and families and to a healthy environment. Students will use local, national and international health programmes to promote their clients' health.

Content

Main concepts and approaches in health promotion.
Strategies, policies, national and international programmes for health promotion. Health-illness cycle in the family.
The complexity of health and health-related internal and external factors. National and international health promotion challenges in the population's living environment.
