Objective

Upon completion of the practical training, students will be able to analyse factors that influence people's everyday life, living circumstances and needs for assistance. They will be competent to define what forms of support and professional principles to apply to meet these needs and how public, private and community-based services can promote the everyday living. Students will gain an overview of the services as a whole and learn to assess their function and ethicality.

Content

- Familiarization with the organisation of the practical placement (business idea, facilities and settings, legislation, personnel)
- Familiarization with with the range of clients and their use of social welfare services
- Familiarizion with the everyday life, functional capacity, social networks and social engagement of clients and service users
- Familiarization with the client processes
- Study of the social welfare services available to clients in the student's practical placement

Introductory lectures and videos, completion of the practical training, assignments and feedback discussions

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Pass (grade 3)/fail.
Students are active and take initiative throughout the practical training period. Using professional concepts, they are able to describe the setting, organization, clients and relevant regulations in their placement. Students contribute actively and responsibly to work in the placement. They are able to act in a professional manner with clients and justify their actions according to principles of professional ethics. Students are able to describe their professional development.
