Objective
Upon completion of the course, students will have command of the foundations of community work and community activation. They will understand the connections between theories of social capital, social pedagogy and community work. Students will be competent in assessing community resources and needs for community activation. They will possess skills in initiating, implementing, and evaluating community work.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Grade 1-2:
Students recognize the significance of a community for the individual and society. They know the most important methods of community work and are able to apply them to case studies. Students take part in the planning and implementation of a practical application.
Grade 3-4: Students are able to evaluate the background ideas and significance of community work as a method in social work. They are familiar with the most important methods of community work and able to apply them and to justify their use to case studies. Students assume a significant role in the planning, preparations and implementation of a practical application.
Grade 5:
Students are able to extensively and profoundly evaluate the background ideas and significance of community work as a method in social work. They know how to apply and develop community work methods. Students have a significant role in the initiation, planning, preparations and implementation of a practical application.
