Objective

WORKING COMMUNITY COMPETENCE

Students can describe the basic principles and operational models associated with the Finnish political and administrational service system. They will become familiar with the hierarchy of treatment and the public, private and third-sector areas of activity for receiving treatment. They will also be introduced to the social security system. Students will be competent in identifying the impact of international strategies and policies on social welfare and health care services.

COMPETENCE IN CUSTOMERSHIP IN HEALTH CARE AND ETHICAL COMPETENCE

Students will become familiar with the rights, responsibilities and data security of patients from the point of view of individuals and of the organisations that provide social welfare and health care services. They will be comeptent in utilising information when working with patients and, together with the patients, evaluate their health and resources when planning appropriate services for them. Students will also be competent in developing and generating information concerning client-centred nursing and ethics.

Content

Health care and social welfare system in Finland and the laws regulating it. EU-based and international legislation regulating health care and social work. The concept of client relationship and significance of client information in client-oriented work.

- know how health care and social services are regulated and they generate opinions on the topic
-are familiar with relevant concepts and as well- informed persons able to discuss issues related to the provision of health care and social services
- know how laws regulate their work and are able to counsel their clients on how the service provision system functions
- independently produce well- structured assignments and demonstrate comprehensive competence in the examination

- know relevant concepts and as well-informed persons are able to participate in discussion on the provision of health care and social services
