Basics of Physics (3cr)

Course unit code: KC32AR00201

General information

Credits
3 cr

Objective

Learning competence
Upon completion of the course, students know the quantities, concepts and units needed to describe thermal, acoustic and optic phenomena. They are familiar with physical laws and able to explore phenomena by means of quantity equations. Students know how to evaluate their solutions and models critically, understanding that the physical models only represent an approximate description of real world phenomena. Students are also used to evaluating their own skills and ready to apply their skills to the study of construction physics.

Content

Newton's laws, Free body diagram, Work, Power and Thermal efficiency, Thermal expansion, Thermal energy, Heat transfer mechanisms, Air humidity and Dew point, Intensity of sound and sound pressure level, Acoustics and reverberation time, Noise and noise control, Illumination
