Steel Structures 2 (4cr)
Course unit code: KC05BR20809
General information
- Credits
- 4 cr
Objective
Students will be competent in designing more demanding design cases. Students will be competent in designing more complicated joints for steel structures according to eurocodes. They will also be competent in making use of plasticity in the designing process. The course is part of the theoretical training required of A-level structural designers.
Content
? Resistance of steel member under combination of internal forces when stability phenomena are critical
? Design of bracings in steel structures
? Second-order effects and imperfections
? Classification of joints by stiffness and strength
? Examples about steel connections
? Basics of plasticity
? Using computer programmes in the designing of steel structures
