Objective

The student :
- Recognizes different methods of manual therapy (massage, mobilisation, manipulation, fascial treatment, trigger point treatment)
- Knows the mechanisms of action, indications for use in physiotherapy, and contraindications of manual therapy
- Is able to apply the basics of manual therapy in practice
- Recognizes the importance of ethical principles in massage in relation to individual well-being and the sense of safety
- Is able to take into account their own ergonomics during massage and mobilisation to support their own work ability
- Is able to explain the basic principles of therapeutic exercise (exercise physiology, progression, motor learning)
- Is able to design a progressively advancing therapeutic exercise programme according to basic principles

- Massage , mobilization, manipulation, fascia-methods, trigger-point treatment
- Physiology of exercise, progression of training, motor learning
- Valtti -activity

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student
- can name different manual therapy methods and can explain how they affect the human body in part
-knows the contraindications of manual therapy and can identify the applications of manual therapy in physiotherapy in part.
- knows how to use manual therapy methods in practice
- can explain the basic principles of therapeutic exercise partially
- can draw up a therapeutic exercise program that partially reflects the basic principles

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student
- can name different manual therapy methods and explain their mechanisms of action
- knows the contraindications of manual therapy and recognizes the applications of manual therapy in physiotherapy
- can implement the basics of manual therapy methods in practice
- can explain the basic principles of therapeutic exercise
- is able to draw up a therapeutic exercise program that reflects the basic principles.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
- can name different manual therapy methods and explain their mechanisms of action in a comprehensive manner
-knows the contraindications of manual therapy and recognizes the wide range of applications of manual therapy in physiotherapy
-can apply the basics of manual therapy methods in a comprehensive manner in practice
- can explain the basic principles of therapeutic exercise and justify them
- can draw up a therapeutic exercise program that reflects the basic principles in a versatile manner
