Objective
The student knows the basic concepts of information security and is able to protect against information security threats that affect users, information networks and information systems.
Content
The course covers security methods such as user authentication, secure passwords, data encryption, security protocols, firewalls, anti-virus. Other topics include e.g.
- basic concepts of information security
- mobile phone security
- cyber security
- scams
- malware
- ransomware
- backup
- security of wireless networks.
The course includes practical data security related excercises in the laboratory.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student describes the basic concepts of information security mostly correctly. They are able to protect themselves against the most common security threats targeting users, computer networks, and information systems.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student describes the basic concepts of information security with only minor inaccuracies. They are able to technically protect against the most common security threats targeting users, computer networks, and information systems.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student describes the basic concepts of information security clearly, accurately, and without technical errors. They are able to technically protect against security threats targeting users, computer networks, and information systems. The student seeks up-to-date information related to information security beyond the course materials, evaluates its reliability, and applies it in solving the given tasks.
