Objective

Student knows the basics of data communications and data communications networks. Student understands the principles of IP addresses, subnetworking and TCP/IP protocols. Students knows the OSI and TCP/IP structure and functions as well as the configuration of routers.

Content

Key areas include communication protocols and their operation. The course covers the principles of data transmission and telecommunications systems, as well as the latest network and application solutions.
- OSI and TCP/IP models
- Principles of IPv4 and IPv6 addressing and subnetting
- The most common TCP/IP protocols and their operation
- Basics of switch and router configuration in a simulated environment and on physical devices
- Energy efficiency and recycling
- Use of artificial intelligence
- Data communications in green transition
