CAD -Continuation Studies (3cr)
Course unit code: 8A00DZ50
General information
- Credits
- 3 cr
- Teaching language
- Finnish
Objective
After completing the course, the student is able to:
- model 3D parts and assemblies using a PDM system (Product Data Management),
- produce high-quality manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, parts lists, and other design documentation,
- model mechanical components in CAD as sheet-metal parts and welded structures,
- design parametric part families,
- use key CAD analysis and design tools such as frame design, piping design, visualization, motion analysis, parameterization, standard component libraries, and create parametric parts and assemblies,
- apply design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles,
- develop an understanding of the product lifecycle, including the consideration of sustainable development throughout the design process.
Content
- 3D design of parts and assemblies

Qualifications
Techical drawing and knowledge about CAD. For example courses 3D-CAD or Mechanical Drawing and CAD
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Students are familiar with the standard technical drawing, and be able to make parametric 3D-models.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Students are able to model the 3D workpieces, create drawings and assemblies. Students can use visualization, animation, pipe and frame design.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Students can do a demanding technical design with visualization, animation, tube and frame design.
