Objective

After completing the course, students will be able to:
- analyze the principles of typography and graphic symbol design
- apply the basics of visual communication in graphic design tasks and assignments
- apply the basics of image processing in exercises
- apply the basics of layout and use different layout templates
- utilize the application possibilities of graphic design in different media and productions

- Printed communication and electronic communication

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Understands the basic principles of visual communication, but application is limited.
Implementations are mainly technically correct, but visually poor or inconsistent.
Software skills are rudimentary; tasks are only completed by strictly following instructions.
The graphic appearance and overall impression are fragmented.
Creativity is limited; the solutions presented are copied from the model.
Recognize the basics of composition, typography, and color theory.
The implementations are incomplete, unclear, or technically incorrect.
Software skills are weak; requires a lot of guidance.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Able to apply key principles of visual communication.
The results are clear and functional, with creative elements.
Technical skills are good, but minor inaccuracies may occur.
The graphic design and guidelines are consistent and fairly professional.
Able to apply skills in different contexts.
Work shows mainly initiative and creativity.
Demonstrates a basic understanding of composition, typography, and color theory.
The implementations are usable but still visually or technically incomplete.
Has a basic command of the software, but there are shortcomings in more complex solutions.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Has a solid grasp of typography, color theory, composition, and layout.
The results are consistent, visually appealing, and creative.
Technically proficient in all software used (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
The graphic design is well-founded, consistent, and professionally executed. Able to apply their skills in a variety of media.
Exercises and project work demonstrate a personal perspective and an ability to come up with independent visual solutions.
