Objective

The student gets familiar with Finnish Food Services by working at in a restaurant or Public Food Services. The internship place will be chosen together with SEAMK practicing counselor.
In training, the student will learn how to properly handle and operate various kitchen equipment and appliances safely and efficiently. The student will be made aware of the potential hazards associated with using these machines.
The student will also acquire basic skills needed for working in a restaurant environment, including food preparation, customer service, and maintaining hygiene standards.

Content

Working in a food service environment:

Practical work in a restaurant or public food services:
- Familiarizing oneself with basic food service equipment
- Using kitchen appliances and tools safely and efficiently
- Practicing food safety and hygiene
- Learning customer service skills
- Food preparation techniques

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Approved:
The student is able to use independently food service equipment and follows given safety guidelines and hygiene practices
The student is able to demonstrate the use of different food preparation techniques.
The student is able to handle different customer service situations and demonstrate communication problem solving skills during situations.

Failed:
The student is unable to operate food service equipment independently and does not consistently follow safety guidelines or hygiene practices.
The student is unable to demonstrate the use of different food preparation techniques or shows limited understanding of their application.
The student struggles to handle different customer service situations and does not demonstrate appropriate communication or problem-solving skills.
