Objective

The student
- is able to define the concept of social guidance in services for children and young people.
- is able to identify the various actors in the service system for children and young people and the key legislation.
- is able to structure service needs and plan goal-oriented client work in the best interests of the child or young person, promoting their participation and rights in collaboration with their immediate network and multi-agency network.
- is able to apply the work orientations of child and youth services in accordance with the ethical principles of social work.

- social guidance in services for children and young people
- social Welfare Act, Student Welfare Act, and Youth Act
- work orientations in social guidance in client, group, and community work
- education and cultural work, youth work, support person activities, and organizations
- multidisciplinary and multi-professional cooperation
- the importance of documentation in social guidance.

Qualifications

The student has completed most part of the first year studies and social guidance (general social guidance study module).

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to define the concept of social guidance and identify the components of systematic social guidance in services for children and young people.
The student is able to name some of the actors in the service system for children and young people and key legislation.
The student is able to identify the needs of children and young people and their immediate network, taking into account the best interests, participation, and rights of the child.
The student is able to name some of the work orientations and methods of services for children and young people in accordance with the ethical principles of social work.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to explain the concept of social guidance and identify the components of systematic social guidance in services for children and young people.
The student recognizes key services for children and young people and is able to apply relevant legislation.
The student is able to assess the needs of children and young people and their immediate network, taking into account the best interests, participation, and rights of the child.
The student is able to apply the work orientations and methods of services for children and young people in accordance with the ethical principles of social work.
The student is able to analyze the significance of multi-agency cooperation.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to explain the concept of social guidance and identify the components of systematic social guidance in services for children and young people.
The student is able to analyze services for children and young people. They can apply relevant legislation in a justified manner when interpreting the service system for children and young people and assessing service needs.
The student can justify the needs of children and young people and their immediate network, taking into account the best interests, participation, and rights of the child.
The student is able to apply the work orientations and methods of children and youth services in accordance with the ethical principles of social work.
