Objective
Students:
- know the principles of how the musculo-skeletal, energy metabolic and respiratory-cardiovascular systems function, and are able to explain their association with the promotion of health and welfare
- are able to define what changes occur in the human structure and function throughout the lifespan, and use the knowledge when counselling clients on everyday lifestyle activity, health-enhancing activity and sports, and on building up prerequisites and practices
- are able to define the association between physical activity and psychological and social wellbeing
- are aware of the options offered by voluntary sports organizations in adopting a physically active lifestyle and in promoting the health and welfare of children, young people, adults and the ageing population

- the structure and function of the human organism, and their association with health and wellbeing
- physical activity and exercise throughout the lifespan
- using knowledge to promote an active lifestyle in people of all ages
- associations between physical activity and psychological and social wellbeing

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Pass:
Active participation in the sessions and completion of learning assignments with the grade pass.
Fail:
Students fail to participate in contact sessions or practical activities as agreed.
Students do not achieve the learning outcomes and are unable to demonstrate their competence as defined by the learning outcomes.
