Log Construction (2cr)

Objective

Students will understand the principles of building with logs. They will will be competent in designing log buildings and understand principles of log production. They will consider the changes in the shape of log structures in their designing and construction work.

Content

- Common log production and working methods
- Other structures associated with logs
- Basic principles of log building design, structural functions and erection

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to name the key concepts of log construction and explain their meaning.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

In addition to the above abilities, the student is able to apply the basic concepts of log construction in different tasks and to give reasons for their solutions.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the above abilities, the student has a comprehensive idea of log construction. They are able to apply their knowledge in specific problems of solid timber construction and to give reasons for their solutions in a logical manner.
