Networks and Bus interfaces (3cr)

Objective

Students will be able to design the different serial data communication methods of embedded systems, including physical data transmission and the realization of a transfer link and network.

Content

Principles of serial data transmission, physical and data link layer, synchronous and asynchronous data transmission. Internal networks of an embedded system: One-wire, Two-wire and SPI. External data transmission networks: RS232, RS485 and CAN.
Wireless network technology. Message frames, point-to-point and multipoint communication

Student understands the basic functions of buses.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Student can analyze separate buses and networks and seek errors.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student can also build new communication protocols independently.
