Objective

Upon completion of the course, students will know how to plan, implement and evaluate nursing and care to meet the needs of ill older people. Students will learn the most important nursing interventions. They will observe asepsis. They will be able to list primary nursing responsibilities and explain the role of multiprofessionalism in nursing. Students will learn to describe the drug care process for ill older people. They will be prepared to support and counsel old people and families during end-of-life care. Students will be able to describe the care and service plan process based on the national model for nursing documentation. Students will be capable of reflection and solving ethical problems in the care and nursing of ill older people. They will analyse their values, attitudes and growth into the elderly care profession.

Content

Students select a practical training setting in a care or rehabilitation unit or in home or long-term care of ill older people in order to reach the learning outcomes defined for the course. Together with their client, students draw up a care and rehabilitation plan/care and service plan based on the national model for nursing documentation.

Pass/fail
Fail: The student does not reach the learning outcomes.
