Objective

Students will understand principles and structures associated with research, development and innovation (RDI). They will learn what stages projects involve and how to contribute to projects. They will practise creative problem-solving and learn to work in a planned and goal-oriented manner. Students will know what clients' rights, responsibilities and data security involve from the perspectives of the individual, organization and community. They will know how to apply this knowledge to client service and how to collaborate with clients to assess their health and resources when planning services for them. Students will develop and create knowledge of client-centred and ethical practice. They will look into and develop their professional practice. Students will gain a concrete overview of RDI processes, principles and benefits. If required, they will be able to run a project and understand how project work can be developed. If required, students will manage in a foreign language and seek research knowledge to develop further in their work. Students will understand the importance of RDI for professional practice and services.

Content

Contributing to RDI activities as members of work groups. The project as a tool in developing health and social services.

Qualifications

No previous studies are required.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

PASS
Students know how to work in projects. Under supervision they are able to run research and development projects and apply existing knowledge and methods of their field. Students attend to patient safety.

FAIL
Students fail to achieve the learning outcomes for the course.

Contributing to RDI activies, multi-professional team work, peer support, independent study. Other teaching and learning methods depending on the project goals and contents.
