Objective

Students will be able to recognize crises as a part of an individual's normal life cycle, and they will be competent in assessing their effects on individuals and communities. Under supervision, students will be able to use methods of crisis work in social work and evaluate the meanings of multi-professional collaboration in crisis intervention.

-Traumatic and developmental crises
- Acute crisis work in Finland
- Psychological reactions in crisis
- Psychosocial crisis plan, support and services
- Defusing and debriefing, stress and coping with stress
- Children in crisis
- Role of the media in crisis work

Qualifications

No previous studies are required.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Grade 1-2:
Students are able to consider various crises and their stages as parts of an individual's life cycle.
Grade 3-4:
Under supervision, student are able to implement crisis interventions and practices in social work.
Grade 5:
Students are capable of analysing the effects of crisis work at the level of the individual and the community and they are able to evaluate the meanings of multiprofessional collaboration in crisis work.
