Knowledge
• The student is able to demonstrate the relevant knowledge needed in acute care. The student demonstrates critical understanding of the relevant terms, theory, foundations, interventions and ethics. The student is able to acquire and assess evidence based knowledge from different databases. The student is able to apply new knowledge and understands the fast accumulation of scientific knowledge and the development of the profession. The student understands the relevant questions related to the interface of acute care and several other professions and scientific areas. The student is able to assess the multiprofessional knowledge related to acute care in order to develop his professional area of responsibility.

• The student is able to demonstrate the core nursing skills needed in the care of the acutely ill or injured. The student is competent in the multiprofessional decision making needed in the solving of complex problems. The student is able to creatively apply evidence based knowledge in problem solving. The student is able to create, develop and take advantace of multiprofessional and -organisational networks. The student takes charge of the care of the patient and its development in his own professional community as a part of a multiprofessional team.

Mutual competences
• The student is able distribute, evaluate and constructively justify evidence based knowledge in order to develop acute care. The student takes initiative and actively re-assesses his workplace customs in order to update them. The student is able to critically assess his own knowhow and has assimilated the need to constantly develop himself and his work community. The student recognizes the future needs of acute care.

• The student is not able to demonstrate the relevant knowledge needed in acute care. The student is not able to acquire the evidence based knowledge and/or able to assess the relevancy and usefulness of this knowledge in the care of the acutely ill or injured.
• The minimum requirements (EFQ 6) are not met.
Skills
• The student is not able to demonstrate the core nursing and problem solving skills needed in the care of the acutely ill or injured. The student’s ability to develop and work in multiprofessional networks is insufficient. The student’s ability to develop acute care in his organization as a part of a multiprofessional team is inadequate.
• The minimum requirements (EFQ 6) are not met.

Mutual competences
• The student is unable to demonstrate knowledge of the mutual competences. The student takes no initiative and charge of the evaluation and updating of the professional customs of the care of the acutely ill or injured in his workplace. The student’s ability to understand future challenges is limited.
