DESCRIPTION OF THE DEGREE PROGRAMME AND AREAS OF COMPETENCE
Studies in technology competence management will introduce you to different forms of management. The aim is to broaden and deepen the skills needed to lead an expert organisation and to prepare students for demanding development projects in working life. It is also suitable for people who want to develop their careers as experts.
The scope of the degree is 60 credits. The studies consist of advanced professional studies, optional studies and a thesis. The studies will cover topics such as management of an expert organisation, financial management, project management, product development and the industrial internet. There is also a course focusing on software development.
Classes are held mainly on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, approximately two weekends per month. The course starts at the beginning of September and runs until May. Some of the lessons are taught face-to-face and some can be followed remotely. Some classes are also taught entirely by distance learning. The course also includes independent work.
The thesis is a development project based on the theoretical knowledge of the subject area, the knowledge acquired in the work and the studies carried out. The aim of the thesis is to solve a current challenge or problem in the student's workplace or another organization. The topic of the thesis is chosen by the student and the search for a topic starts at the beginning of the studies.
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE PROFILE
The degree program is designed for people who want to develop their skills and advance in their career. The aim of the program is to provide graduates with broad and in-depth knowledge and the necessary theoretical knowledge to act as developers in demanding expert and managerial positions.
Development
The programme is developed in collaboration with the Federation of Finnish Technology Industry and its local member companies.
Objective
The purpose of the programme is to extend and enhance graduate´s professional expertise with adequate theoretical knowledge to manage and develop expert organizations and to manage and carry out demanding development projects.
