Objective

The student
*knows the legislation and recommendations for student health care and services.
*is able to plan, implement, and evaluate the health examinations in student health care and the screening of client’s health, growth, and development.
*is able to support the client towards health promoting choices.
*is able to support the family of client when needed.
*is able to notice individually the study environment and the risks for her/his future work.
*is able to evaluate the need for special support for the client and is able to counsel and guide for follow-up treatment when needed.
*is able to promote the safe study community and study / practical training environment.
*is able to work in a multidisciplinary manner in student health care.

Content

Student health care services, afferent legislation and recommendations.
Health examinations for students, health screening methods and evaluation.
Promoting health of the students and supporting their resources and mental health
First aid and receptions when needed at student health care.
Early recognition of the need for special support for the student.
Multi-sectoral co-operation and guidance for follow-up treatment.
Cooperation with the family of the student.
Promoting safe and healthy school and study community and environment.
Health risks of the student’s study / practical training environment and future work.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student
- identifies the basic knowledge of the different aspects of student health care.
- justifies the action with evidence-based information for the development of health care.
- is capable of independent decision-making in different situations and operating environments in student health care.
- operates in a client-oriented and client-friendly manner in public health nurse work.
- is able to guide individual clients in student health care.
- works safely and in accordance with the principles of professional ethics of the public health nurse.
- works as a public health nurse expert in multidisciplinary groups and co-operation.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student
- is capable to apply the management of the knowledge base of different areas of health care and applies information widely in student health care.
- is capable of independent decision-making in different health care situations and environments.
- operates in a client-oriented, responsible and safe manner in public health nurse work.
- is able to listen, support, and guide individual clients and their families in student health care as public health nurse.
- is able to promote group health.
- is capable work safely as a public health nurse and in accordance with the principles of professional ethics.
- is capable work as a public health care expert in multidisciplinary groups and co-operation.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
- demonstrates wide-ranging management of the knowledge base of the various areas of health care and expertly applies it in student health care as a public health nurse.
- is capable of independent decision-making in different student health care situations and environments as a public health nurse.
- is capable to work in a client-oriented, responsible and client-safe manner in student health care.
- is able to listen, support, and guide the client and his/her family in student health care.
- develop oneself and work in accordance with the professional ethical principles of a public health nurse and safety in the work of a public health nurse.
- works as a public health care expert in multidisciplinary groups and co-operation.
- demonstrates the management of the individual, group, and community health promotion methods.
- assumes responsibility for the overall care and service process of the client in healthcare.

The student
- demonstrates inadequate management of basic information on the various aspects of health care and their application in student health care.
- insufficiently justifies his/her activities in student health care.
- is not able to operate in a client-oriented and client-safely manner in health care.
- has inadequate client-safe self-decision skills in student health care.
- does not take adequate account of professional ethical principles in the field of health care.
